Prof. Behnaam Aazhang, AdvisorProf. Aazhang is the J.S. Abercrombie Professor and Chair in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University, where he has been a member of its faculty since 1985. His research interests are in the areas of communication theory, information theory, and their applications with emphasis on multiple access communications, cellular mobile radio communications, and optical communication networks. He is a Fellow of IEEE.
Prof. Aazhang received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1981, 1983, and 1986, respectively.
Gilles Delfassy, AdvisorGilles is president and CEO of St-Ericsson, a wireless indistry leader in the design, development and creation of mobile platforms and wireless semiconductors. He also serves as an advisor for several companies in the high-tech industry, sitting on several corporate boards.
He previously was a senior vice president at Texas Instruments, leading its wireless terminals unit until he retired from the company in 2007. During his 28 year career at the Texas Instruments, he created and built what would become, at that time, the largest wireless semiconductor business in the world. He and his team pioneered TI's single-chip phone technology, bringing affordable cell phones to developing regions for the first time. Under his leadership, his organization developed TI's OMAP™ platform, which brought multimedia to cell phones, ushering a new era in mobile communications and entertainment.
Gilles Delfassy holds an Engineering Diploma (Master of Science in Electrical Engineering)from Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Electronique et d’ Automatique de Toulouse and a degree in Business Administration from Institut d’Administration des Entreprises de Paris.
